Who We Are
At Candela Habitus, we exist to bridge a critical gap in the support available for children living with autism and their families in Uganda. Many parents face daily challenges, limited access to inclusive environments, high therapy costs, fear of judgment, and a lack of safe spaces where their children can play, explore, and develop essential life skills. As a result, many children remain indoors, missing opportunities to build independence, confidence, and social connection.
Candela Habitus provides safe, structured, and sensory-friendly outdoor learning experiences designed specifically for children with autism. Through nature walks, art sessions, sensory play, life-skills activities, and guided social interactions, we help children grow in independence while offering parents peace, support, and a community that understands their journey. Our approach combines child assessment, hands-on activities, and personalized sensory tools to ensure every child receives the right support both outdoors and at home.
OUR VISION
A world where all schools, caregivers and communities work together to create supportive learning environments that prepare every child for independence, meaningful work and full participation in society.
OUR MISSION
We transform childhoods in Uganda by developing inclusive, hands, on learning experiences that empower
both children living with autism and neurotypical children. We do this through creating innovative and engaging learning models, tools
that equip every child with the skills they need to thrive academically, socially and economically. We also train caregivers in
inclusive teaching methods as we are fostering collaboration between schools, parents and communities.
